About

Ok, so what exactly is “Off The Balcony” about anyway? And some of you reading this might even want to know a little bit about me as well (although I can’t imagine why.)

Let’s start with the latter, shall we?

My is name is… unimportant. But since a lot of people detest the anonymity of blog authors, you can call me “Johnathan” (which is pretty close to my real name anyway.) I’m approximately 39 years old and currently live in Japan (that wasn’t a joke.)

I came here in 1995 to relieve the stress from too many years of college and lack of a social life. In retrospect, coming to a country where one doesn’t comprehend the language is a lousy way to rid one’s life of stress and make new friends — but I digress…

14 years, a Japanese wife, two kids, and a nasty mortgage later, I’m still here — and quite happy I might add.

Now, this whole “Off The Balcony” thingy:

In my free time I like to write. I’ve actually written a few e-books that are for sale on the Internet and own a few other blogs on the side as well. But those other blogs are “nice” blogs (meaning that I actually write “wholesome” things that wouldn’t make me embarrassed should my mother ever read them.)

My e-books are just as “nice.”

But “Off The Balcony” is my chance to write whatever I want without the fear of damaging the tiny bit of respect that only a hand-full of people have for me. With that said:

I might post something that
offends your sense of decency.
that enrages the essence of your humanity.
or even makes you question my humanity.

And yet I might post something that:
makes you laugh with uncontrollable joy.
makes you cry the tears of deep reflection.
or even touches your humanity — bringing us all a little closer.

In addition, anything “cool” (for lack of a better term) that I come across such as comedy quotes, song lyrics, quotes by famous (and not so famous people), or anything else that tickles my brain I’ll post it as well.

Enjoy!
